In 1909 a church was founded in Wangtai.

[Note from Lally Rinell:

"For several years Oscar was the missionary designated to the Wangtai Church and the surrounding Chapels (out posts) in the area. Wangtai was first visited already by old Lindberg. On the trip I made with Oscar we met people who still remembered how J[ohan] A[lfred] and Hedvig came to Wangtai. Hedvig led one child, carried one and was pregnant with the third! – Later on several other missionaries worked in this Church: Leander, Lidqvist, Strutz, Martin Jansson etc. No missionary ever lived in Wangtai, since Wangtai is only 25 km from Jiaozhou [Kiaohsien]. The two-story house in Huayuan where Oscar’s stayed, was designated for the missionary in charge of the Wangtai area. Of course in the beginning Wangtai was an out post to Jiaozhou [Kiaohsien] – but they became an autonomous church,54 I think in connection with the dedication of the Church in 1935, Dong was ordained minister in 1940.49 "]
