We can trace Trufvid's ancestors through his father's line to his great-grandparents in the early 1700's. Hi`s great-grandparents' names were Niclas Jacobsson and Elin Samuelsdotter. The following pages will give you a little history of these people and of Trufvid's brothers and sisters. 1. Niclas Jacobsson (1715 - April 12, 1799) married Elin Samuelsdotter (1711 - died prior to 1795) as noted above were Trufvid's great-grandparents.1 Niclas lived in his old age with his son Jacob Niclasson at Stockanäs. He died in Stenbrohult. We don't know what other children Niclas and Elin may have had. 1.1. Jacob Niclasson (September 3, 1752 - July 15, 1833) married Anna Thuresdotter (December 17, 1755 - November 30, 1819) in 1777 when Jacob was about 25 years old and Anna about 22. Jacob and Anna were Trufvid's grandparents.2 Jacob was from Stöckanäs, Mellangård, and born in Stenbrohult. Swedish records say that he was a farm owner. His wife, Anna, was born in Stubbalycke in Virestad parish to Thure Nilsson and Kerstin Bengtsdotter. Later Anna is said to be from the region of Taxås Millangård. Jacob and Anna had 14 children, only four of whom were still living when Anna died in 1819. These children were Jöns, Kjerstin, Jon, and Elin.3Most of us are descendants of Jöns.4 The family lived at the time of the birth of Jöns on the farm Älmhult, but moved around 1785 to the farm Stockanäs where they lived until at least 1805, but perhaps even later. Anna fell ill on November 20, 1819 of "head and chest disease" and died 10 days later in the afternoon. The Burial Registration says of Anna that she was "a good wife and mother" and "was modest in her living" which is a brief but honorable salutation for a woman who had given birth to 14 children, and had seen 10 of them pass away. Jacob died in Stenbrohult of "old age" in 1833. 1.1.1. Jöns Jacobsson (September 19, 1778 - November 17, 1821) married Kjerstin Truvedsdotter5 (May 10, 1784 - November 27, 1821). They were Trufvid's parents. For more information on Jöns and Kjerstin see the introduction of this book.6 1.1.1.1. Sune Jönsson (June 21, 1803 - ) married ????.¨ After the death of his parents Sune lived on the farm called Stockanäs with his uncle Jon Jacobsson and his wife Kjerstin. In 1837 he moved to the farm Sannaböke where his sister Lisbeth and her husband were already living,7 and was recorded in Swedish records to be working as a saltpetre-boiler, who is a person skilled at making salt-peter and ingredient in gunpowder, in Björnlunda parish in the province of Södermanland. Between 1832-36 he was a master saltpetre-boiler. In 1839 Sune moved to the farm Sällhult Västergård where Lisbeth and Göran also moved to in 1830. At this time Sune is still listed as working at Björnlunda. In 1846 Sune moves to the farm Hyttinge.8 1.1.1.2. Lisbeth Jönsdotter (February 19, 1806 - December 13, 1892) married Göran Månson (April 2, 1802 - September 27, 1850) in 1835. After the death of her parents Lisbeth lived with her uncle Jon Jacobsson on the farm Stockanäs until her marriage to Göran. Göran was the parish cobbler. Upon their marriage the family first lived in their own cottage9 on the farm called Sannaböke, and in 1839 moved to the farm Sällhult Västergård of which they owned a 3/8 share. In 1850 Göran tragically drowned in lake Möckeln. After his death Lisbeth lived at Sällhult with her daughter Christina and her husband. According to the Surveys of 1882, Lisbeth was blind. Whether she had been blind all of her life or had become blind, we do not know. Lisbeth and Göran had six children: Kjerstin, Jonas, Anna, Christina, Elin and Maria. 1.1.1.2.1. Kjersin Göransdotter (May 5, 1837 - ???? ). 1.1.1.2.2. Jonas Göransson (March 3, 1839 - April 15, 1856) died in an accident. 1.1.1.2.3. Anna Göransdotter (November 3 1841 - ) married to the widower and track-walker Jöns Olsson (July 15, 1837 - ). They were married on March 26, 1869 in Lindby parish, province of Skåne. Jöns "escaped", which means he left without a permit to leave - to America in 1871. Perhaps we can assume that Christina "escaped" with him. We do not know where they lived in America and do not know any of their descendants. 1.1.1.2.4. Christina Göransdotter (July 28, 1844 - ) married the farmer Jan Andersson (April 29, 1844 - ) in 1870 in Virestad parish. They lived at Sällhult. Christina's mother Lisbeth came to live with her when Lisbeth's husband died in 1850, possibly because Lisbeth was blind. Lisbeth did not pass away until 1892. If Lisbeth lived with Christina and Jan all those years, Christina had her mother with her for a very long time. Perhaps theirs was one of those unique situations where mother and daughter got along well even when under one roof. 1.1.1.2.4.1. Ida Sophia Jansdotter (September 10, 1870 - ). 1.1.1.2.4.2. Johan Jansson (May 19, 1872 - 1874). 1.1.1.2.4.3. Axelina Jansdotter (June 27, 1875 - ). 1.1.1.2.5. Elin Göransdotter (February 10, 1847 - ). 1.1.1.2.6. Maria Göransdotter (July 7, 1850 - September 27, 1860). 1.1.1.3. Trufvid Jönsson (December 14, 1808 - March 19, 1810). Trufvid died at 10:00 PM of "heart failure." Perhaps this was a crib death. Three years later Jöns and Kjerstin would name another son Trufvid. 1.1.1.4. Jonas Jönsson (March 2, 1811 - September 30, 1831). Jonas died at the early age of 20 in the "province of Södermanland". We do not know where he lived after the death of his parents. We do know he worked at first as a farmhand at Bränhilt, moved in 1829 to the farm Dihult, and on April 8, 1831 to Södermanland to work as a saltpetre-boiler, probably at Björlunda. 1.1.1.5. Trufvid (Jnsson) Holmquist (October 26, 1813 - October 6, 1884) married Elin Mattsdotter (July 5, 1818 - June 2, 1866) who had been previously married and who had two children, Johan and Gustaf. Trufvid, after the death of his parents in 1821 went to live with his aunt Kerstin and her husband Bengt. Trufvid moved away from this farm, called Råshult Norrgård, in 1829 to work on the farm Sällhult Västergård. We are all descendants of Elin and most of us are descendants of Trufvid. For more information on Trufvid and Elin see the introduction of this book. 1.1.1.6. Elin Jönsdotter (September 3, 1816 - ) married farm owner and widower Johan Svensson (October 2, 1818 - July 3, 1888) in 1844. After her parents' deaths Elin lived with her uncle Jon Jacobsson along with her brother Sune and her sister Lisbeth. In 1836 she left to work as a farm maid on the farm Värpeshult Norrgård. Some time later she left with her sister Lisbeth and brother-in-law Göran Månsson at Sällhult Västergård. In 1844 Elin marries Johan in Ryssby parish. They live on the farm Tångarne Väsensgård of which they own 3/16. Before marrying Elin, Johan had been married to Bengta Persdotter (1816 -November 15, 1843) in Göteryd Parish, but she died in 1843. Johan and Elin were married the following year. Johan died in 1888, but no cause of death is given in the burial registration. Elin continues living on Tångarne Väsensgård for some years after the death of Johan.10 Johan and his first wife had one child, Maria. Elin and Johan had eight children: Bengta, Anna, Kristina, Nany, Gustaf, Christina, Jonas, and Christina. 1.1.1.6.1. Maria Johansdotter (May 9, 1841 - ????). 1.1.1.6.2. Bengta Johansdotter (November 4, 1845 - ????), who was probably named after her father's first wife, married farm owner Johannes Andersson (February 2, 1826 - ???? ) on September 25, 1868 in Slätthög parish. The family lived on the farm Tångarne Västergård. They had seven children: Anna, Kristina, Nany, Gustaf, Christina, Jonas and Christina. 1.1.1.6.2.1. Anna Johannesdotter (March 18, 1869 - ????). 1.1.1.6.2.2. Kristina Johannesdotter (July 15, 1871 - ????). 1.1.1.6.2.3. Nanny Johannesdotter (October 29, 1873 - ????). 1.1.1.6.2.4. Gustaf Johannesson (January 26, 1849 - ????). Gustaf left for America on April 8, 1870. We don't know where he moved to or who his descendants were if he had any. 1.1.1.6.2.5. Christina Johannesdotter (July 27, 1851 - July 28, 1851). She is listed as having died of a "stroke." What this meant at the time, we don't know yet. 1.1.1.6.2.6. Jonas Johannesson (September 26, 1853 - October 5, 1853) is also listed as having died of a stroke. 1.1.1.6.2.7. Christina Johannnesdotter (December 21, 1859 - ????). 1.1.1.7. Ingeborg Jönsdotter (December 25, 1818 - ????) married on June 1, 1838 in Pjätteryd to the farmer Esbjörn Jönsson (March 15, 1811 - ????). Ingeborg lived with her aunt Elin Jacobsdotter (June 15, 1789 - ????) and her husband Jöns Nilsson on the farm Boastad in Pjätteryd parish after the death of her parents. Her aunt Elin was born in Stenbrohult. Between 1834 and 1838 Ingeborg moved frequently. In 1834 she left Boastad to work as a farm maid on the farm Klöxhult Norrgård. The following year, 1835, she moved again to the farm Klöxhult Södergård. In 1836 she left Pjätteryd parish for the parish of Hallaryd where she worked on the farm Kruseböke. In 1838 she moved to Pjätteryd parish where she married Esbörn that same year. After their marriage they both settled down and lived on the farm Sjöastadbygd where they stayed for many years to come.11 Ingeborg and Esbjörn had nine children, seven girls and two boys: Christina, Johanna, Anna, Gustafva, Elin, Gustaf, Blenda, Johan, and Thilda Maria. 1.1.1.7.1. Christina Esbjörnsdotter (August 13, 1839 - ????) married the farmer Petter Gummesson (July 13, 1834 - ). In 1864 Christina left for Stenbrohult where she married Petter on February 28 of that same year. 1.1.1.7.2. Johanna Esbjörnsdotter (February 27, 1842 - February 24, 1883) suffered from epilepsy. 1.1.1.7.3. Anna Esbjörnsdotter (September 28, 1844 - ????) married on January 23, 1827 to the farmer Isak Eriksson (July 13, 1834 - ) in Pjätteryd. They lived on the farm Lönshult. 1.1.1.7.4. Gustafva Esbjörnsdotter (March 15, 1847 - ????). 1.1.1.7.5. Elin Esbjörnsdotter (August 4, 1849 - ????). 1.1.1.7.6. Gustaf Esbjörnsson (March 25, 1852 - ) married Paulina Andersdotter (September 18, 1864 - ) in Virestad parish on November 17, 1883. They lived on the farm Sjöastadbygd. Gustaf and Paulina had at least two children, Victor and Alma. 1.1.1.7.6.1. Victor Edvard Gustafson (August 29, 1884 - ????). 1.1.1.7.6.2. Alma Martina Gustafsdotter (August 20, 1886 - ????). 1.1.1.7.7. Blenda Esbjörnsdotter (May 24, 1855 - ????). 1.1.1.7.8. Johan Esbjörnsson (November 13, 1857 - ????). 1.1.1.7.9. Thilda Maria Esbjörnsdotter (September 14, 1860 - ????). 1.1.1.8. Ingjerd Jönsdotter (November 27, 1821 - ????). Ingjerd was probably born prematurely. She died of "weakness" according to Swedish records as did her sister, Kjerstin. 1.1.1.9. Kjerstin Jönsdotter (November 27, 1821 - ????). 1.1.2. Kjerstin Jacobssdotter (September 19, 1778 - ????) married Bengt Samuelsson (1788 - ????). Kerstin and Bengt took in Kjerstin's nephew, Trufvid, after the death of his parents in 1821. Trufvid moved away from this farm, called Råshult Norrgård, in 1829 to work on the farm Sällhult Västergård. See the section "Tragic Year of 1821" in the Introduction of this book for more information. 1.1.3. Jon Jacobsson (November 27, 1790 - ) and his wife Kjerstin Jönsdotter (September 12, 1796 - ) took in his brother and sister-in-law's children Sune, Lisbeth, and Elin after the death of their parents in 1821. Lisbeth lived on the farm Stockanäs with Jon and his wife, until she got married in 1835. Elin left in 1836 to work as a farm maid on another farm. Sune moved away in 1837 and worked as a curer of meats on another farm. See the section "Tragic Year of 1821" in the Introduction of this book. See the section "Tragic Year of 1821" in the Introduction of this book for more information. 1.1.4. Elin Jacobssdotter (December 8, 1794 - ) married Jöns Nilsson (June 15, 1789 - ). Elin took in her brother Jöns' daughter, Ingeborg, after Jöns and his wife's Kjerstin's death in 1821. Ingeborg left this farm called Boastad in Pjätteryd parish in 1834 to work as a farm maid on another farm. See the section "Tragic Year of 1821" in the Introduction of this book for more information.
NOTES 2. According to the Burial Records of Jacob, Jacob and Anna were married in 1777. According to the Burial Records of Anna, however, they were married in 1774. As far as we know, Jöns was Jacob and Anna's first born, and he was born in 1778, so we go with 1777 as the date of the marriage. 4. Members of the family whose ID starts with #1 or #2 are descendants of Elin Holmquist's first husband. 5. The children of Jöns and Kjerstin are listed in the Husförhörslängder or in English Clerical Surveys. 7. We assume they were already living at Sannaböke because Swedish records state that after their marriage they lived at first in "their own" cottage on the farm. 8. The Swedish Cler. Surveys. do not actually list him as living on that farm or any other farm in Stenbrohult. 9. Lisbeth and Göran may not have actually owned the cottage, but rather had the cottage to themselves. web page updated: 23-Nov-2011
