Annie and Andrew marriage record original

In the marriage record Annie's father's name at 'Truvit J. Holmquist'. It should be Trufvid Holmquist. Andrew's father's name is given as 'Nels'. It should be 'Nils'. Andrew's occupation is 'laborer'. They were married by Petrus Olaus Hanson, a Swedish Lutheran pastor. Witnesses were Andrews brother, Fred, and Fred's wife.

Andrew was from Degerfors, Sweden where he was a boyhood friend of John Larson who married Christina M. Ericsson in America.

Andrew Nelson and his brothers were from the northern part of Sweden. His brothers were lumberjacks in America, cutting out the white pine around Escanaba, Michigan.

Annie and Peter lived in Escanaba for some years and then moved to Chicago. In 1896 they moved from Chicago to Stark County, Indiana, near Grovertown and bought some farm land across the road from Andrew's brother, John. Andrew farmed this land until 1906 at which time they moved. Annie became sick. Perhaps as a consequence of this sickness, they joined the church of a Dr. Dowie of the "Dowieites" of the Christian Catholic Universal Church of Zion, Illinois. They sold out in Grovertown and moved to Zion, Illinois in about 1906 where Peter got into construction work and moving houses. Andrew is said to have been one of the pioneers of Zion given his specialty in construction.

Around their home in Zion they always had large gardens where Andrew planted fruit trees and various crops. Andrew also owned one of the fastest horses on the North Shore. He used the horse along with a buggy for traveling from Zion to Chicago.

Annie died in the Fall of 1933 at Zion 'with all of her children around her.'

She is buried at Mount Olivet Memorial Park Zion Lake County Illinois, USA. She was living at the time at 2707 Emmaus Ave., Zion, Illinois.

How she knew the Moote boys were involved I do not know. But "Uncle Si" was waiting for us and I understand they got a spanking.
