8. Anna (Annie) Holmquist (September 6, 1863 - October 24, 1933) who was born near Älmhult, Sweden, went to or arrived in America April 4, 1882 at nineteen years of age. She married Andrew Peter Nelson (December 1, 1856 - April 4, 1918) eight years later on December 23, 1890 in Escanaba, Michigan. Anna was twenty-seven years old. Andrew was thirty-three. Andrew's occupation is given as a laborer. The ancestry.com Michigan, Marriage Record for Annie Holmquist gives her father's name incorrectly as 'Tower J Holmquist'. His name was Trufvid Holmquist. Her mother's name is given as '??Ing Matsen'. Her maiden name was Mattsdotter. Her spouse is given as 'Ndrew Nelson'. It was Andrew Nelson. Also, the record states that Annie's mother and father were members of her household. This is not true. Neither emigrated to the USA. They were married by Petrus Olaus Hanson, a Swedish Lutheran pastor. Andrew and Annie Nelson Michigan Marriage Record - original Andrew Nelson and his brothers were from the northern part of Sweden. His brothers were lumberjacks in America, cutting out the white pine around Escanaba, Michigan. Annie and Peter lived in Escanaba for some years and then moved to Chicago. In 1896 they moved from Chicago to Stark County, Indiana, near Grovertown and bought some farm land across the road from Andrew's brother, John. Andrew farmed this land until 1906 at which time they sold out in Grovertown and moved to Zion, Illinois about 45 miles north of Chicago. They joined the newly formed church of a John Alexander Dowie, a faith healer. The church was named the Christian Catholic Church in Zion and was renamed in 1903 as the Christian Catholic Apostolic Church. Christian Catholic Universal Church of Zion, Illinois. Annie had become sick. Probably as a consequence of this sickness, they joined the 'Dowieites' and moved to Zion. In Zion Peter got into construction work and the moving of houses. Andrew is said by family to have been one of the pioneers of Zion with his specialty in construction. Around their home in Zion they always had large gardens where Andrew planted fruit trees and various crops. Andrew also owned one of the fastest horses on the North Shore. He used the horse along with a buggy for traveling from Zion to Chicago. Peter died in 1918. Annie died in the fall of 1933 at Zion "with all of her children around her." The Nelson family continued to own a farm in Grovertown for a while. 8.1. Anna Marie Nelson (April 11, 1892 - March 22, 1976) was born in Escanaba, Michigan and married Charles Steven Caird (October 24, 1858 or 1859 - April 1 or 8, 1947) in the fall of 1930 in Helena, Montana where they settled down.2 He owned and operated a mining machinery factory. Charles was born in St. John's Newfoundland.3 Anna's nickname was Nennie or Nannie. 8.1.1. Lovina Faith Caird (June 7, 1912 - Deceased) married Howard Harold Robinson (December 16, 1914- ). Lovina was born in Zion, Illinois and Howard in Three Forks, Montana.4 Lovina and Howard had two children, Marilyn and Allen. 8.1.1.1. Marilyn Nan Robinson (December 15, 1936 - October 25, 1985) married Lester Edwin Coate (January 21, 1936 - ) in Newport Beach, California on August 9, 1958. Marilyn was born in Chicago, Illinois and Lester in Albany, Oregon. They divorced and Lester remarried to Cheryl Mizer. Marilyn was an art teacher at Del Dios Junior High School in 1972. Her are work outside of school was very much admired by family and friends. Her death due to lung cancer was a great loss to students and friends. Lester has been involved with protecting the nation's environment while working as a White House Fellow in Washington, D.C. He was also an E.P.A official in Seattle, Washington and is now a vice chancellor at Oregon State University at Corvallis. He received his Phd. in Humanities at USJU. 8.1.1.1.1. Stephen Allen Coate (June 9, 1959 - ) married Kelly Emberger (June 8, 1965 -) on April 23 1989 at Fallbrook, California. Steve was born in Corvallis, Oregon and Kelly at La Jolla, California. Steve received his B.A. in animal physiology from the University of California at San Diego. and has worked at the San Diego Wild Animal Park as a mammal keeper since 1980. He also received his real estate license in California, sold real estate and owns real estate in San Diego. Steve is now working toward is teaching credential. 8.1.1.1.2. David Scott Coate (January 4, 1961 - ) married Birdena Ann Melton (June 10, 1964 - ) on July 11, 1987 at Puyallup, Washington. David was born in Alhambra, California. Dave has worked in the music business as a sound engineer with a band in Seattle, Washington. He also worked in the paper industry and is now a warehouseman. 8.1.1.1.3. Carol Maureen Coate ( May 31, 1964 - ) was born in Escandido, California. Carol received her B.A. in fashion design and now works for a clothing design company in Seattle, Washington. 8.1.1.2. Allen Caird Robinson (September 20, 1939 - ) was married to Garland ? ( ) for four years. Allen and Garland are divorced. 8.2. Hildur Victoria Nelson (February 2, 1894 - October 1, 1984) was born in Chicago, and married Christian William Nielsen (September 4, 1890 - April 1, 1959). Hildur worked as a housekeeper during her teens for Dr. and Mrs. Dick in Evanston, Illinois. Dr. Dick invented the "Dick Test" for Scarlet Fever. Hildur continued her education at night and became Secretary to the president of the First National Bank of Chicago where her grandson, Richard, is now an officer. Christian was a mechanical design engineer for many years at Great Lake Naval Station in Illinois. He was also a lay minister for some years in Chicago before his marriage to Hildur. 8.2.1. Richard William Nielsen (October 19, 1921 - November 27, 1944) was born in Chicago. Richard was a natural born athlete excelling in many sports. He was to play professional baseball with the Chicago Cubs, but became a Navy pilot when World War II broke out. In 1944 he was on a shake-down cruise en route to Pearl Harbor on the U.S.S. Randolph where he was to briefly visit his brother Don who was also in the Navy, and then continue to the South Pacific. On an early morning flight off the coast of Trinidad accompanied by his radioman the engine failed and the plain crashed into the ocean and Richard was killed. 8.2.2. Donald Christian Nielsen (April 13, 1923 -) married Pearl Dreyer (January 31, 1934 -). Both Don and Pearl were born in Zion, Illinois. During World War II Don was a Navy aviation radioman. He is now retired from Outboard Marine Corp. in Waukegan, Illinois, and is now doing design work from his home as a CAD designer (computer-aided design) for various area companies. Pearl, a retired educational secretary who was a secretary for 15 years at Zion High School and later at College of Lake County for several years, now does occasional word processing from the home. Don and Pearl had two children, Sandra and Richard. 8.2.2.1. Sandra Lee Nielsen (February 15, 1958 - ) married Phillip Claude Jensen (July 14, 1958 -) on October 10, 1981. Sandra was born in Pasadena, California. Sandra worked at Mercer Meneager Hansen as a data analyst. She now is an at home mom, caring for twin 5 year olds, Lauren Anne and Tara Christine. Phil is a communication consultant with the benefits firm of Hewett Associates in Lincolnshire, Illinois. 8.2.2.1.1. Tara Christine Jensen ( ). 8.2.2.1.2. Lauren Ann Jensen ( ). 8.2.2.2. Richard William Nielsen (September 2, 1960 - ) married Diane K. Meyer (February 20, 1967 -). Rich is a systems analyst and officer at First Chicago NBD. Diane is an elementary school teacher. 8.2.3. Marjorie Victoria Nielsen (July 25, 1926 -) married Charles Harvey Shea (October 12, 1918 - February 1, 1989). Marjorie was born in Zion, Illinois. She was with Saks Fifth Avenue of Chicago for many years until she and her husband moved to St. Louis, Missouri where he was Secretary/Treasurer of the St. Louis Cardinals. Later they moved to Arlington Heights, Illinois where Charles served as President of Courtney Distributors up until the time of his death. Marjorie is still active in the business world at Couresty Dist. in Chicago. Marjorie and Charles had two children, Donna and Patricia. 8.2.3.1. Donna Margueritte Shea (June 17, 1945 - ) married Thomas Patrick Vatterott (May 14, 1945 -) and later married Joseph Lloyd Johnson (September 3, 1923 -). Donna was very active in the raising and showing of horses and won the Amateur-Riding Championship of the United States. Donna is now a real estate broker. She was born in Waukegan, Illinois. Joe is a builder and real estate developer in St. Charles, Missouri. He was born in Maxton, North Carolina. 8.2.3.1.1. Thomas Patrick Vatterott (April 26, 1967 -). Tom was born in St. Louis, Missouri. Tom, who loves helping people, is a medic firefighter and is top in his line of work. 8.2.3.1.2. Blake Joseph Johnson (December 16, 1981 -). Joe was born in St. Louis, Missouri. He is a top honor student at Chaminade College and excels in soccer and tennis. 8.2.3.2. Patricia Ann Shea (September 27, 1948 -) married William Wendell Ehlers (June 1, 1936 -). Patricia was a flight attendant with Trans World Airlines for 17 years. She and her husband live in West Lake Village, California where Bill is Senior Vice-President of TransAmerica Insurance Company. Pat was born in Waukegan, Illinois. Bill was born in St. Joseph, Missouri. 8.2.3.2.1. Joshua Brooks Ehlers (February 25, 1978 -). Josh was born in Davenport, Iowa. He is natural born athlete in baseball and basketball and excels with honors in football at Jesuit High. 8.2.4. Rosemary Faith Nielsen (January 11, 1931 -) married Gerald Wesley McCreight (November 17, 1929 - October 1, 1989). Rosemary worked for many years in sales including management and as a buyer, and did modeling for hair and cosmetics. She also sang with the Pasadena Symphony Chorale for several years. Jerry was with Cal-Tech J.P.L. in the yearly days of the Space Race. He and Rosemary spent interesting summers at Cape Canaveral, Florida. After moving to the San Diego area in 1972 he was with the San Diego County of Air Pollution. Rosemary was born in Chicago and Gerald in Zion, Illinois. Rosemary and Gerald had two children, Richard and Donald. 8.2.4.1. Richard Wesley McCreight (May 20, 1949 -) married Linda Van Orden (April 30, 1950 -). Rich is doing environmental research for NASA and is on the staff of OSU in Oregon. He is co-founder of "Environmental Aero Scientific, a company providing information for natural resource management, environmental monitoring, and land-use planning. He is an ultra-light pilot and uses this talent in connection with his work. Rich was born at the Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi. 8.2.4.1.1. Ricky McCreight (April 18, 1976 -). Rich attends college at Orange Coast College (1997). 8.2.4.1.2. Jennifer McCreight (April 18, 1976 -). Ricky and Jennifer are twins. They were born in Riverside, California. Jennifer attends college at Orange Coast College (1997). 8.2.4.2. Donald Louis McCreight (September 23, 1950 -) married Nancy Richardson (November 7, 1948 -). Don was with the water company for several years in Altadena, California and went into construction when he moved to Oregon in 1977, and started his own company . He is an avid backpacker, skier and rock climber. For the past five years don has worked at the South Pole, first as a carpenter, then foreman, and now is station master. He will be there for 13 months (1997). Don was born at the Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi. 8.2.4.2.1. Amy Marie McCreight (June 2, 1977 -) was born in Pasadena, California. She attended the University of California at Santa Barbara, PCC and Pasadena City College. 8.3 Ellen Myrtle Nelson (January 24, 1898 - Deceased) married Silas [Si] Volney Moote (May 14, 1900 - 1973). Ellen was born in Indiana.5 Si is descended from one of four brothers who emigrated to the United States from Germany. The family name in Germany was spelt 'Moth' and the spelling changed in the U.S. to match German pronunciation of the name. 8.3.1. Volney [Peter] Nelson Moote (June 16, 1923 -) married Marjorie McElroy (June 12, 1926 -).6 Peter managed development of the Seven Springs Ranch in Cupertino, California managing everything from apricots and walnuts to 408 San Francisco residences. Peter and Marjorie had one child, Thomas. 8.3.1.1. Thomas McElroy Moote, M.D. (September 29, 1949 -) married Kathyrn Davis McCallum (April 5, 1951 -). Tom practices internal medicine. Kathyrn is a descendant of John McCallum, one of the pioneers of Big Stone County of Minnesota. John was from Argile Shire, Scotland and died in 1847 in Ortonville, Minnesota. The McCallums still own the farm in Minnesota. 8.3.1.1.1. Alicia Kathyrn Moote (August 6, 1985 -). 8.3.1.1.2. Carolyn Taylor Moote (August 1, 1987 -). 8.3.1.1.3. Peter William Moote (March 21, 1991 -). 8.3.2. Paul Allen Moote (June 6, 1925 -) married Adelle Rice (January 31, 1921?). They were married April 10th 1948 in Grosse Pointe, Michigan. Bernard [Bud] Holmquist knew both Paul and his brother Voleny ever since Bud was quite young. Of them Bud writes: We were never close because we lived far apart, but have been friends. Once when quite young we visited their home north of Chicago (way north suburbs somewhere) on the sandy shores of Lake Michigan. They told me abut the crabby old lady a few doors away. We decided it would be great fun to throw rocks on her roof, which we did. I was very much a part of it. How she knew the Moote boys were involved I do not know. But "Uncle Si" was waiting for us and I understand they got a spanking. I played innocent and my dad assumed I was not involved and so [I] got away with it. In 1974 Paul founded a company the aim of which is to assist developers, builders, lenders and government agencies in their land development and building programs. The emphasis of this business was engineering feasibility, estimated construction costs, construction management and value engineering. The purpose of the company eventually changed to be construction management. The company, Paul A. Moote and Associates, is located at 57 Brookhollow Drive, Building 1528, Santa Anna, California, and with an office in Lancaster California. Paul is often called by the California Supreme Court as a professional witness for construction related issues. Paul's father did the same before him. Paul and Adelle had five children, Peter, Paul, Adelle, Marjorie and David. 8.3.2.1. Peter Allen Moote (February 6, 1949 -) married Joanne Keef ( ). Peter is a lawyer and lives in Freeland on Whidby Island near Seattle, Washington. On Peter's website (2003) is the following: "Peter Moote has been an aggressive champion of personal and civil rights for 25 years. Now in his early fifties, Peter limits his practice to claims of injured persons and employee rights. Peter who is pictured on the right is a member of the Washington State Bar Association, American Bar Association, American Trial Lawyer's Association and one of the prestigious Eagles in the Washington State Trial Lawyer's Association. He is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, United States Court of Claims and all Washington state courts."7 8.3.2.1.1. David Rice Moote (January 30, 1959 -) married Wendy Annette Cebers ( ). David was born in Oakmont, Michigan, now lives in Newcastle, Washington, and works at Boeing as an Interior Installer Lead. In his 25 years at Boeing Dave has worked on all the Boeing aircraft, and currently (2003) works on the Boeing 777. He is also a youth pastor at a church in Renton, Washington. Wendy has a prison ministry at Twin Rivers, Washington. 8.4. Jennie Theordora Nelson (April 30, 1901 - 1958) married Nels R. Fredrickson ( deceased). 8.4.1. Burton Nels Fredrickson (March 8, 1925 - October 8, 1971) married Mary Elizabeth Gnorski (December 21, ????). Mary is living in Zion, Illinois where she is secretary to the principle/assistant superintendent at Zion High School. Burton and Mary had three children, Burton, John and Elizabeth. 8.4.1.1. Burton Nels Fredrickson (December 8, 1952 -) married Connie (January 4, ????). Burt was born in Waukegan, Illinois and is now living in Medford, Oregon where he is manager of Toyota Car Agency. 8.4.1.1.1. Crystal Fredrickson (July 1, 1983 -). 8.4.1.1.2. Shantell Fredrickson (April 25, 1988 -). 8.4.1.2. John Nels Fredrickson (May 29, 1954 -) is married to Janet Wilson (September 28, ????). John was born in Waukegan, Illinois. John is living in Salem, Wisconsin and works as a Security Guard for Sara Lee in Deerfield, Illinois. John has three step-children. 8.4.1.2.1. Ruben Cornejo (August 16, 1975 - ). 8.4.1.2.2. Ramon Cornejo (November 14, 1977 -). 8.4.1.2.3. Celina Cornejo (March 19, 1979 -) . 8.4.1.3. Elizabeth Ruth Fredrickson (April 14, 1958 -) married David Alan Schroeder (October 14, 1955 -) on March 19, 1983. Elizabeth was born in Waukegan, Illinois. Living in Zion, Illinois?. Roger Fredrickson (September 4, 1932 - ) married Linda Mahon ( ). Roger and Linda are divorced. Roger may have lived in Los Angeles and may be living there still. Linda may be living in Palos Verdes, California and may be remarried. Roger worked for L. A. County Hospital. Roger and Linda had four children, Christopher, Lance, Jennifer and Peter. 8.4.2.1. Christopher Fredrickson ( 1955 -). 8.4.2.2. Lance Fredrickson ( 1957 -). 8.4.2.3. Jennifer Fredrickson ( 1960 -). 8.4.2.4. Peter Fredrickson ( 1964 -). 8.5. Emma Tillie Augusta Nelson (August 18, 1904 - August 23, 1977) married George Allan Porte (October 25, 1899 - July 15, 1978). Emma met George in Waukegan, Illinois. After their marriage they moved to Helena, Montana where George was in steel fabrication at Caird Engineering works from 1930 until 1978. He was general manager. George was a nephew of Charles Steven Caird who married Emma's sister Anna. 8.5.1. Richard Allan Porte (January 19, 1930 - ) married Neva Joanne Hardy (November 28, 1931 -). Dick is president of Caird Engineering Works. He was born in Waukegan, Illinois. Richard and Neva had six children, Charles, Sanna, Ellen, Amy, Glenn and Paul. 8.5.1.1. Charles Allan Porte (May 1, 1952 -) married Donna Gayle Woods (October 29, 1955 -). Chuck is a maintenance man for the Helena Housing Authority. Donna is a nurse. Chuck was born in Bozeman, Montana. 8.5.1.1.1. Meaghen Nan Porte (July 8, 1973 -). Meaghen was born in Helena, Montana. 8.5.1.1.2. Marissa Rye Porte (February 14, 1977 -). Marissa was born in Helena, Montana. 8.5.1.1.3. Casey Allan Porte (May 30, 1985 -). Casey was born in Helena, Montana. 8.5.1.2. Sanna Lee Porte (December 18, 1953 -) Sanna is a technical writer and was born in Provo, Utah. 8.5.1.3. Ellen Rene Porte (November 4, 1958 -) married Sheldon Lee Cameron (December 20, 1958 -). Ellen was born in Helena, Montana. Sheldon is a builder. 8.5.1.3.1. Alexander Hale Cameron (July 11, 1985 - ). Alexander was born in Missoula, Montana. 8.5.1.4. Amy Elizabeth Porte (February 14, 1961 -) married Bruce Fuller Davidson (June 17, 1956 -). Amy is a graphic designer. Bruce is an architect. Amy was born in Helena, Montana. 8.5.1.5. Glenn Thomas Porte (June 27 1962 -). Glenn is a musician. Glenn was born in Helena, Montana. 8.5.1.6. Paul Richard Porte (July 24, 1964 -). Paul once worked as a bicycle mechanic and later for Microsoft near Seattle, Washington. While he was in the Seattle area in 2003 Lennart Holmquist tried to contact Paul, but the operator had no listing for him and neither did Microsoft. Paul was born in Helena, Montana.
